Postponed: Labyrinth work day
November 17, 2012
We are ready to announce a Labyrinth Oasis Earth Works date!
On Saturday, November 10 we will begin the next major phase in the transformation of the sandy lot which has become home to our Labyrinth. With the guidance of REALM and Watershed Management Group, we will spend Saturday on the major task of moving earth, removing trees stumps, and rebuilding the Labyrinth. This is a huge event and we will need all the hands we can get! Expect to be digging dirt, moving cement blocks and working side by side with members of First Christian Church, our collaborators on this project.
Please come, even if manual labor is not usually your thing; many hands make light work (or something like that)! We will have water, coffee and snacks/lunch to fuel us through the day. Due to the intense work and presence of machinery, this is an adult-only event.
Following the Earth Works day, we will have two days of pouring concrete and setting cisterns for water collecting! These dates to be decided.
Once this push of labor has been completed it will be time for planting desert natives (and edibles), installing the fencing, building rammed earth low walls, putting in sitting areas, installing flow pools, and creating signage! All this over time…it will be amazing!
Please RSVP using the Doodle link below so we can plan for tasks and food!
